It's time to think Go Pink Lemonade for Breast Cancer Awareness month
The Tallahassee Democrat is entering its eighth year encouraging Tallahassee to Go Pink, along with our partners at Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare.
2020年欧冠赛程表Over the years, we’ve done many different things from a newspaper printed on pink paper, to a luncheon to a 5K to tons of in-print and digital coverage of survivors, the latest treatments and local heroes and sheroes. But our most fun and engaging effort so far has been our Go Pink Lemonade stands.
Pink lemonade, pink paint, pink ribbons, and a pink newspaper will NOT cure breast cancer. What it will do, and what it has done here in Tallahassee is save a lot of lives though awareness, education and support. If just one woman decides to schedule her mammogram because we are raising awareness, then it’s worth all that pink.
And because of that, we’re not going to stop.
2020年欧冠赛程表Soon, the annual painting of the Democrat office columns by Superior Painting will begin, and businesses all over town will start getting creative as to how they will decorate and honor those who have fought and are still fighting this terrible disease.
2020年欧冠赛程表On Oct. 3, your Tallahassee Democrat will be pink and m3dancehouse.com will have a pink presence. Businesses, schools, county and city offices and anyone and everyone will decorate in pink and wear pink clothing.
Here is where all the local dentists and hygienists need to close their eyes. On that same day, Thursday, Oct. 3 the sugar will be flowing like rivers all over town in the form of pink lemonade and sweet treats. Last year, about 100 lemonade stands popped up raising $25,500 for the local nonprofit, Joanna Francis Living Well (JFLW).
We partnered with Joanna Francis eight years ago and since then, through Go Pink, have contributed tens of thousands to her namesake foundation. JFLW provides opportunities of support and financial assistance for unforeseen living expenses while living with terminal breast cancer.
2020年欧冠赛程表All donations go directly to women in our area. Money from JFLW helps women with their electric bills, groceries, transportation, child care, rent and more. In addition, JFLW has a very active and dynamic support group. Women with any type of cancer are encouraged to attend.

Here’s how you can help Go Pink
2020年欧冠赛程表In addition to raising awareness for breast cancer issues and encouraging women to get mammograms, you can Go Pink in any number of ways and not be left out of all the fun on Oct. 3. We’re also hoping you’ll vie to be the coolest lemonade stand in town.
2020年欧冠赛程表All you need to do is go to to register your 2019 Go Pink lemonade stand. Your business will be placed on the map online and in print, and we will promote your location on social media leading up to the big day.
2020年欧冠赛程表Last year, businesses big and small set up lemonade stands, little girls set up tables outside of their dance studio to sell lemonade and some places even serve “adult” spiked lemonade.

2020年欧冠赛程表 “We are so excited for another Pink October with the Democrat! It’s amazing to see how this community comes out in full force to support our local breast cancer community. We are truly looking forward to stirring up some love on Oct.3 with more Pink Lemonade stands than ever before,” said Jennifer Taylor, founder and director of JFLW. “Our support group is growing and thriving with guest speakers and new activities each month. The peer to peer matching with sister survivors has given so many families the individual connections needed to walk this journey. This is going to be another great year and we hope to see you out there!”
2020年欧冠赛程表Start planning now because, by the looks of the photos in last year’s Go Pink photo galleries, the competition was sweet! If you have questions about your lemonade stand, please contact Shannon Knowles at email@example.com.
